Sleeter Bull
2018 Sleeter Bull Award Winner, Henry “Buddy” Courdt
Henry “Buddy” Courdt of Raber Packing, Peoria, Illinois, was the 2018 recipient of the Sleeter Bull award at the 2018 IAMP Convention Annual Banquet in Bloomington, Illinois. This award is presented to individuals who have made
significant contributions to the meat processing industry in Illinois.
Buddy is a 4th generation meat processor in a family-owned business that was established in 1954 by his great-grandfather Fritz Wetterauer
and Sam Raber. Today, Buddy is head of operations after hands on learning of every position in the family business.
Buddy first served as Vice President then advanced to President of the Illinois Association of Meat Processors in 2015, a position previously
held by his grandfather, Carroll Wetterauer. Buddy has been active in the IAMP for many years serving as director, as well as organizing and assisting the Meats Judging Competition at the State Convention. He has great interest in the industry and networking with fellow meat processors visiting many of their facilities. While
he grew up in the meat industry, he still aims to know every aspect of the business. All of these
qualities make Buddy a worthy recipient of the 2018 Sleeter Bull Award.
